The U.S. Homeland Security Department is developing its response to a legislative measure that would set the stage for a potential merger between two offices responsible for monitoring threats from weapons of mass destruction (see GSN, June 1).
Speaking at a Capitol Hill briefing on Tuesday, Huban Gowadia, deputy director of the Domestic Nuclear Detection Office, said the department was preparing a position that would “directly respond” to a House Appropriations Committee proposal that could lead to her office merging with the DHS Health Affairs Office.
